Our Generosity Philosophy
At Kenmore Church, we believe generosity flows naturally from understanding the gospel. Just as God demonstrated radical generosity by giving His Son for us, we're called to reflect that same spirit of generous giving in our lives.
If you're new to our church, please know there's no expectation for you to give. We're simply glad you're here.
For those who call our church home, we encourage you to pray and seek God's guidance about your giving. Whether you're just starting your giving journey or have been giving for years, we invite you to regularly reflect on your giving as an act of worship and response to God's grace.
Our Core Beliefs About Giving
Giving Is a Response to the Gospel: We don't view giving as a religious obligation or a "church tax." Instead, we see it as a natural response to God's overwhelming generosity toward us. When we truly grasp what God has done for us through Jesus Christ, generosity becomes a natural overflow of our gratitude.
God Wants Your Heart, Not Your Money: While the Bible speaks often about money, the core issue isn't financial—it's spiritual. God doesn't need our resources, but He desires our hearts to be fully devoted to Him. Giving is one way we put God first in our lives and acknowledge His lordship over everything we have.
Freedom in Giving: We don't mandate specific amounts or percentages for giving. While tithing (giving 10%) can be a helpful biblical starting point, we believe each person should "give as they have decided in their heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion" (2 Corinthians 9:7). The amount matters less than the heart behind the gift.
Radical Generosity: We encourage our members to embrace a lifestyle of radical generosity—giving that goes beyond comfortable boundaries. As C.S. Lewis noted, if our giving never pinches or requires sacrifice, we might need to reconsider our level of generosity.
